The John Wick movies should satisfy any gun junkie. Twenty-one different shooters. Mild to wild. Handguns, submachine guns, shotguns and rifles. Some are common, others exotic. Very satisfying movie. Some say the formula for action movies is a military presence and/or a high body count. John Wick has little or no military presence, but real-world tactics, lots of shooters and a high body count.
Custom Glock, Colt Python & Smith and Wesson 686 7 Shot Revolvers
There appears in the movie the FAB Defense KPOS system that converts a Glock to a carbine. Insert a full auto Glock 17 and you have a submachine gun, with the Glock 33 round magazine you can really rock ‘n roll. The Colt Python and S&W 686 stainless steel 7-shot revolvers make a guest appearance. The only two revolvers to be included. The Colt Python is a classic, and with a trigger job a delight to shoot. S&W revolvers all respond well to trigger enhancement providing a smooth stroke during double action shooting. S&W are the traditional go to for revolver competition. Salient Arms International produce a series of customized Glocks and Smiths. They have heavily customized rifles and shotguns. The Mercedes of firearms. The handguns have barrel nuts, making them suppressor friendly. They even make a cool AR with picatinny full length rail and ventilated forearm.
Heckler & Koch P30L & Walther P99
John Wick weapons preference is his H&K P30L fitted with a custom compensator. A Browning Hi-Power, a single action stack double magazine Browning designed pistol makes a stage appearance but is never fired. This gun goes back to the second world war and was called the P-35. The Walther P99 is the weapon of choice of the female assassin known as Ms. Perkins. A gun conspicuous by its absence is the 1911, only modern designs, probably 9mm’s. Even Beretta’s 92FS Inox is in the movie.
Coharie Arms MP 10 & H&K MP5 Submachine Guns
Submachine guns are the Coharie Arms MP-10 a 10mm weapon and the obliquus H&K MP5, probably the most prolific sub gun on the market. The MP-10 is a MP5 clone and considered a piece of junk, with stoppages of 1 in only 5 rounds. It doesn’t hold up under the 10mm very well and both companies that produced it closed, poor customer service and workmanship. However, they are great movie guns.
Kel-Tec KSG Shotgun, Ruger Model 77 Long Arm Rifle & More
One gun making one of its first appearances is the Kel-Tec KSG shotgun. Two tube magazines with 7 rounds each, making 14 rounds of 2 ¾ inch 12ga shotgun shells with a chamber for 3 inch shell you can start out with 15 rounds. The classical sawed-off double side-by-side is here as well, hmmm two to 15, doesn’t sound fair. But up close and personal a devastating package. Coharie Arms CA-415 a 5.56mm NATO MP5 clone. Again, workmanship is iffy but looks good in the movies. A real pro would not carry these weapons. A take down Ruger Model 77 is Marcus’ weapon of choice for a long arm. Ruger makes top quality bolt guns and in a variety of calibers.
A word on suppressor. Yes, you know your being shot at with a suppressed rifle because of the “crack” of the bullet’s supersonic shock wave. But you don’t know where it is coming from. The sound is not directional. Shooting with a suppressor is a big plus survival sniper tool.
Desert Tech SRS, Savage 10 BA & FN SCAR-H
John Wick is packing a DTA Stealth Recon Scout rifle hopefully in 338 Lapua Magnum. This is a bull-pup bolt action rifle ideally suited for the urban or rural shooting environments for the professional assassin or for John Wick to cull the heard of killers after him. Savage makes an appearance with their Model 10BA bolt action sniper/designated marksman rifle. This is bread & butter basic all-around shooter. This model has a pistol grip and adjustable stocks. Last but certainly not the least is an FN SCAR-H. This gun can be had in 7.62 x 51mm NATO, 5.56 x 45mm NATO and in the Soviet 7.62 x 39 Warsaw Pac. Select fire it is a hard hitting and reliable weapon seeing action with some special warfare operators.
