Glock 19 Police Sidearm

The Glock 19 was introduced to the market in 1988 from an Austrian handgun manufacturer that prides itself on quality. Due to its lightweight design, this model rose to popularity quickly. It was specifically made as toned down version of the Glock 17. The Glock manufacturers made this gun about four inches smaller on the barrel and about 7 inches shorter in total. While fully loaded, the weight was reduced by approximately 30 ounces and di all of this while maintain the magazine at 15 rounds. Glock 22 Law Enforcement Handgun

Though it was launched in 1990, military and police made this a gun of top choice by 2006. It is very similar to the Glock 19, but it is a few inches longer and a few ounces heavier. Offering a little more power, the Glock 22 became a favorite among officers. This firearm is capable of shooting both 9mm and .40 caliber ammunition.

Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm

For over a century, Smith & Wesson, an American gun company, has been manufacturing guns. Beretta Model 92

As the oldest active gun manufacturer in the world, this Italian-based company has a claim to fame. Since the 16th century they have producing firearms. In 1975, the Beretta Model 92 hit the market, and with the open-side design that Beretta is noted for, this lightweight aluminum alloy offers more durability than other guns on the market. Some officers are turned off by the bulkiness, however, by 1981, Beretta developed the 92SB version, which is smaller, shorter, and lighter.

Sig Sauer P226

Dating back to Switzerland in the 1850’s, the original SIG company started producing muskets for the Swiss army. Being limited to Swiss law, the owners wanted options for expansion. As a result, they partnered with Sauer & Sohn, a German company. In 1985, the Sig Sauer brand was officially created. As an upgrade to the P220, the Sig Sauer P226 was designed. The original intent, demonstrated in the design, was for military use. Agents from the FBI, US Coast Guard, and Navy SEALS all favor the Sig Sauer P226 because the round capacity exceeds the 15 rounds and can be equally used by lefties. Also, the increased accuracy is provided with an extended barrel.
