Presidents Who Carried Guns & Last President to Carry a Gun in Office; Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight David Eisenhower, Ronald Wilson Reagan & More

These days, everywhere you look you are bombarded with all things presidential. Many citizens of the U.S. looked forward to November 8th just to have the election over. One political issue that is commonly brought up is the protection of second amendment rights which gun owners across the country are ready to defend. Teddy Roosevelt Fabrique National Model 1900 Semi- Automatic Pistol & Gun Collection

Theodore Roosevelt is widely known for his interest in guns. He was a member of the NRA and loved big game hunting. He almost never went anywhere without packing heat and was known to keep a Fabrique National Model 1900 Semi- Automatic Pistol in his night stand at the White House. Teddy Roosevelt is also known for his gun collection. He is said to have owned more guns than any other U.S. President.

Dwight David Eisenhower 20 Gauge Winchester Model 21 Shotgun & Firearm Collection

Dwight David Eisenhower owned a farm in Gettysburg, PA and was known to enjoy hunting pheasants on his property. He also had quite the firearm collection and was known for his shooting skills. He was a straight shooter and was presented with a 20 gauge Winchester Model 21 shotgun for it. This shotgun can be viewed on display at the NRA National Sporting Arms Museum at the Bass Pro in Springfield, MO. Eisenhower was the one who had a skeet shooting range installed at Camp David.

John F. Kennedy M1 Garand Rifle & Firearm Collection

John F. Kennedy is another U.S. President who had a sizable firearm collection. He enjoyed shooting clay pigeons for sport and was also a proud member of the NRA. In fact, the NRA museum proudly had his M1 Garand rifle on display during the 1970s. He was known to host guests, to shoot for sport at the trap range at Camp David. His wife also occasionally shot skeet along-side him at this range.

Ronald Wilson Reagan Flintlock Long Rifle & .38 Revolver & Gun Collection

Ronald Reagan was a big gun enthusiast and wasn’t afraid to let people know where he stood on the subject. There was an assassination attempt to take his life not long after he became President. After that, Christopher Hirsch crafted Ronald Reagan with a flintlock long rifle that was on display at the NRA Museum per the request of the President. A good number of his firearms are on display in California at The Reagan Presidential Library for all to see. Ronald Reagan was known to love guns as well as people. He was the last President to carry a gun in office. Reagan carried a .38 revolver in his briefcase “just in case.”
